Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Summary

Endera was founded with the purpose of making high quality commercial electric fleet vehicles in 2019. Creating the Endera line of all-electric vehicles stems from a belief that our world deserves better. Our founders set out on a mission to build an all-electric commercial vehicle that is dependable, technologically advanced, cost effective, and energy efficient. With a clear goal to guide the way, Endera has grown rapidly and has become the leader in delivering state of the art, high quality commercial electric vehicles to market. We will continue to innovate and do our part to preserve the environment by creating vehicles to reduce carbon emissions.

Endera Motors is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with 4–6 years of experience in vehicle or industrial product design. This role focuses on the development of structural and mechanical systems for commercial EV and non-EV buses with an emphasis on manufacturability, production readiness, and compliance with engineering standards.

What You’ll Do
• Design and release mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to improve cost, quality, and assembly efficiency.
• Inspect drawings for compliance with GD&T, ASME Y14.5, and Endera Drawing SOP standards.
• Control the release of drawings and maintain revision control through the PLM system.
• Ensure adherence to relevant automotive, commercial vehicle, and structural standards including SAE, ISO, and FMVSS.
• Work with Bill of Materials (BOM) and Change Management to maintain accurate records and part number control.
• Perform tolerance analysis and participate in design reviews to verify manufacturability and safety compliance.
• Support prototype and production builds, including supplier engagement, tooling feedback, and fit checks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align design intent with manufacturing capability, cost targets, and quality goals.
• Contribute to continual improvement of drawing practices, documentation control, and release procedures.

Overview: Endera is in search of a Powertrain Controls Systems Engineer to join its expanding, dynamic team to bring our medium duty electric vehicles from prototype to production.  Each team member at Endera is given responsibilities and challenging tasks that will elevate today’s level of electric vehicle technology.  The candidate must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, enjoy problem solving independently and in team environments.

The candidate must be a technically skilled person that can draw/model/design an assigned product or unit based on predetermined mechanical characteristics. The candidate must be able to model accurate performance requirements, weights, and dimensional limits, determining the nature and working relationship of the various mechanical components.

General Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop control systems for Endera EV powertrain platforms
  • Work with firmware and integration engineers to implement, test, and debug vehicle control systems
  • Work collaboratively with mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers to define control system capability and establish actuation/sensing requirements
Experience

• Strong CAD and GD&T skills with working knowledge of ASME and ISO drawing practices.
• Experience designing for weldment, fabrication, or assembly operations.
• Understanding of FMVSS, SAE, and structural design standards preferred.
• Experience in heavy-duty or commercial vehicle applications is a plus.
• Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems for revision and document control.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and apply problem-solving methodologies (5-Why, 8D, FMEA).

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
• 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design for vehicle or heavy equipment systems. No sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering.
• Experience with FEA, structural validation, or simulation tools.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, and quality documentation processes.
• Exposure to ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 quality management systems.
• Experience supporting prototype builds and production ramp-up environments.
