Transportation Operations Manager

Every day, older adults in Putnam County rely on the Putnam County Council on Aging to get to medical appointments, the grocery store, the pharmacy, and community activities. Behind every successful trip is a Transportation Operations Coordinator who helps make it all happen.

We’re looking for an organized, compassionate leader with strong communication skills, excellent customer service, and a passion for helping others. This is more than a scheduling position.  It’s an opportunity to coordinate essential services, lead a team of drivers, oversee a fleet of vehicles, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of local seniors.

This position plays a vital role in ensuring older adults have access to safe, dependable transportation while maintaining an efficient, and compliant program.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate daily transportation schedules for clients and drivers.
  • Supervise, support, and train our team of drivers.
  • Communicate with clients, staff, healthcare providers, and community partners.
  • Serve as a welcoming first point of contact by answering phones, greeting visitors, and assisting clients with transportation.
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance and help ensure our fleet is safe, reliable, and ready to serve.
  • Maintain accurate transportation records, reports, and program statistics.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies, funding requirements, and transportation program regulations.
  • Solve scheduling challenges while providing exceptional customer service.

Experience

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • Associate’s degree in business, transportation, healthcare administration, or a related field is a plus.
  • Relevant experience in transportation coordination, dispatching, logistics, office administration, supervision, customer service, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license with a good driving record.
  • Proficient with computers and willing to learn transportation scheduling software.
  • Experience working with older adults or individuals with disabilities is a plus.

Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check, driving record check, and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
