Service Clerks

The service clerk is responsible for the tasks assigned. To be performed in a prompt, efficient, and courteous manner.

Major duties: 

• Maintains courteous and friendly customer relations.
• Assists the customers in transporting merchandise they have purchased to their automobiles on the store’s parking lot and placing the groceries where and how the customer wants them in their vehicle.
• Loads groceries into carts and/or bags at the counter.
• Collect carts from the parking lot and return them to cart storage areas

Minor duties: 

• Provides answers to customer’s questions or takes the customer to another store employee for the answer.
• Assists the cashier in any way requested.
• Performs the cleaning, sweeping, and mopping activities as requested.
• Performs other minor janitorial duties as requested (cleans bathrooms, customer spills, etc.)
• Maintain alertness for shoplifting and notify management.
• Maintain the area of the check stand and customer entrance in an orderly condition through tidy-up work and the stocking of supplies in the check stands, which shall not include merchandise for sale.
• Follows all company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.

Meat Clerks

A meat clerk is responsible for the stocking and selling of fresh meat products, following proper sanitation standards. You will provide efficient and courteous customer service and communicate customer requests to meat staff.

Responsibilities:

• Waits on customers in a prompt, courteous, accurate, and efficient manner, maintaining good customer relations.
• Prepares, handles, stocks, and/or stores all fresh meat products received.
• Rotates all meat products on a first-in/first-out basis.
• Sees that all meat product is stored in proper refrigeration.
• Stocks and services pre-packed meat and service meat cases with products.
• Prepares special order requests communicated by customers
• Follows both store and regulatory health and sanitation standards.
• Follows regular cleaning schedule for equipment and cases.
• Completes price changes as directed.
• Familiar with weights and measures standards and the proper use of container and packaging materials.
• Perform freshness checks and re-conditions products.
• Operate slicers, scales, mechanical price marking devices, and use knives and safety cutters.
• Perform sweeping, cleaning, and mopping functions.
• Operate telephones and intercoms and practice proper telephone etiquette.
• Follows all company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.

Cashiers

A cashier is responsible for efficiently processing customer transactions at a point of sale (POS) system. The duties of a cashier include greeting customers, scanning and ringing up items, accepting payments, issuing receipts, and providing change. They may also be required to answer customer inquiries, handle returns or exchanges, and maintain clean and organized checkout areas.

Responsibilities:

• Check out customers promptly, courteously, efficiently, and accurately.
• Knowledge of register equipment including all peripheral devices.
• Keep the work area clean and stocked at all times.
• Knowledge of current ads, promotions, and all other information posted by management.
• Count till in and out, and maintain the required balance.
• Maintain courteous and friendly customer relations.
• Report customer feedback to store management.
• Provide verbal and physical assistance to customers.
• Maintains alertness for shoplifting and notifies management.
• Stock shelves and racks when assigned.
• Complete duties assigned to front-end staff during downtime.
• Operate telephones and intercoms and practice proper telephone etiquette.
• Follow all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Cashier Training Manual and Employee Handbook.
• Assists and cooperates with other cashiers where needed to benefit the front-end operation.
