Summary
Job Description:
Food preparation duties may include washing and preparing vegetables and fruits, making salads and sandwiches, and slicing meats and cheese
Measure and mix ingredients for desserts and cookies, operate mixer and oven for baking, and set up for the serving line
Operate ovens and/or deep fryer according to schedule
Measure, mix and season ingredients for soup, salads, dressings, and casseroles
Prepare meat, fish and vegetables for warming, baking and browning
Assist in the supervision of student cafeteria workers if applicable
Serve food on trays at food line
Operate a la carte line
Prevent excessive waste and serve leftovers when that can be done safely and promptly
Operate dishwasher; clean, spray trays and silverware in preparing for machine
Wash pots and pans and utensils
Wash cafeteria tables and wipe out milk cooler
Clean work area tables, serving counter, ovens, other machines and fill potato chip/snack rack
Sweep kitchen floor daily
Assist cafeteria manager with stocking delivery items
All other duties delegated by the cafeteria manager
Experience
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED
Ambitious, high-energy person
Neat and clean in personal appearance
ServSafe Certified preferred; if not, training will be necessary upon employment
Must enjoy being around children
Must enjoy preparing food for others and adhere to standards of quality, appearance and taste
Must know and practice accepted safety and sanitation practices
Must be flexible in working hours as situations dictate
Must be able to perform assigned tasks as directed by Cafeteria Manager
Must be agreeable to any OSHA requirements or district-ordered training
Must not have other employment that would interfere or potentially interfere with the minimum requirements of this position
Physical requirements: Duties involve lifting and/or moving materials weighing up to fifty (50) pounds and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods
