Position Overview

The Superintendent of Schools serves as the chief executive officer and educational leader of the district. The Superintendent is responsible for the administration and supervision of all district operations, implementation of Board policies, and compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws.

Position Responsibilities

In accordance with Ohio Revised Code, Board policy, and established administrative practices, the Superintendent shall:

  • Serve as the educational leader and administrative head of the school district.
  • Implement and enforce Board of Education policies and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Act as the chief advisor to the Board of Education, providing recommendations on policy, personnel, finance, and district operations.
  • Provide leadership for the development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs, curriculum, and assessment systems.
  • Direct the recruitment, employment, supervision, and evaluation of district personnel.
  • Prepare and administer the district budget in collaboration with the Treasurer, ensuring sound fiscal management.
  • Oversee all district operations, including facilities, transportation, food service, technology, and student safety.
  • Promote continuous improvement in student achievement and district performance.
  • Maintain effective communication and working relationships with staff, students, parents, and the community.
  • Represent the district in professional, civic, and community activities.

Experience

Qualifications

Required:

  • Valid Ohio Superintendent License or Certificate, or ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field.
  • Demonstrated successful leadership experience in K-12 education.
  • Knowledge of Ohio school law, finance, and accountability systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.

Preferred:

  • Earned doctoral degree (Ed.D. or Ph.D.).
  • Prior experience as Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, or Central Office administrator.
  • Experience working in a K-12 public school setting similar to Leipsic (small, rural district).
  • Proven record of instructional leadership, fiscal management, and community engagement.
